(More customer reviews)I purchased this set of bake ware after I (a true klutz) broke a few too many pieces of my CorningWare and need more casseroles and heavy duty baking dishes. This set definitely fits the bill for being heavy duty and I am impressed with the quality of heat retention and cooking that the glassware offers. The price was right ($43.70 through Amazon with free shipping as I am a Prime member) for the variety of items included in this set.

Two drawbacks that anyone thinking about purchasing this set should consider though: The first issue is that the manufacture packages the glass with flimsy cardboard separating the pieces so you are probably going to have breakage in transit. My first box had several broken pieces, and the replacement did as well. Rather than trying for a third set I decided to combine the whole pieces together for one set and sent all of the broken pieces back together. The other issue is that they add some really flimsy spatulas and measuring spoons to bolster the item count in this set which I feel is deceptive in terms of the value of the set (especially at the regular Amazon price of $65.00). Disregard those items when considering your purchase as they are worthless, and should be thrown in the trash.

I gave this 4 stars but 3.5 would be more fitting.

The five-piece placesettings (10 3/4-Inch Dinner Plates, 8-Inch Salad Plates, 6-Inch Soup/Cereal Bowls, and Cups w/Saucers) are practical for everyday use because they are safe in the microwave oven, dishwasher, and may be warmed in a slow oven (225 degrees). There are pretty Franciscan Apple table linens, including placemats, napkins, and several sizes of tablecloths, that are available from Wedgwood. I also have used table linens in almond, dark green, and rust shades to complement this pattern. The Apple pattern is "open stock," which means you can continue to add many more pieces over the years, such as luncheon plates, side salads, and even matching glassware.

(More customer reviews)These are well-designed, durable dishes, but the darker colors do tend to show scratches.When stacked, the rough bottom of one plate can scratch the plate beneath it.This is a problem with the newer style Fiesta more than the "vintage" Fiesta which had more glaze on the bottom, and a problem with new dishes more than those which have been through the wash many times.When stacking these dishes in the cupboard, especially when they are brand new, you might want to put coffee filters between the plates to minimize scratching.

Nordicware customer service was not very helpful. The item comes with a 10 year warranty but this didn't make it past its first use. They want you to spend the money to return the item along with the receipt at which time they will repair or replace the item prorated. Who would want the same item that didn't make it past it's first use?

(More customer reviews)I'm a big fan of Pfaltzgraff.Having seen these dishes up close in the store, I can tell you the above picture just doesn't do them justice. The scalloped edge, and the contrasting blue and yellow borders really set them apart from the others.These are no ordinary stoneware dishes. In fact, I've seen much more [costly] stoneware dishes that weren't half as nice.Anyway, I use my Pfaltzgraff dishes for a wide variety of occasions, and never fail to get many favorable comments. They set a truly stunning table.

(More customer reviews)Here is the product that started it all.Created originally as an alternative to Melmac, way back in the Nixon administration, it has captured the imagination of America, especially when it was found that one could microwave food on it.

Its siblings, in Butterfly Gold, Spring Green, Snowflake Blue, Old Town Blue, et al, alas, are not longer available.But this set 100% compatible, so it makes for a quick way to restock broken pieces (no, NOTHING is 100% indestructible) at half the price of replacing pieces one (or four) at a time.

No, it doesn't have the stackable (and microwaveable) cup and saucers.It doesn't even have the ceramic (non-microwaveable but matching) mugs.But basic white cups and saucers are available anywhere.This has the basic pieces (minus the dessert bowl) that you probably want, plus some tumblers thrown in for good luck.But be careful, because the tumblers are clear, so they are not really Corelle, and they shouldn't be thrown far...
